Outcome and Impact on Client
Client A – Stroke – Complete L sided upper and lower extremity paralysis after sustaining a massive stroke.
Intense strengthening regimen targeting affected muscles throughout the body.
Client able to walk using cane.
Client B – Difficulty walking – Difficulty walking due to low back pain.
Core strengthening and lumbar extension program implemented.
Client able to walk significantly longer distances without pain; improved overall sense of well-being.
Client C – Generalized weakness – Generalized upper and lower body weakness due to aging and gradual decline; decreased safety awareness and at high risk for falls.
Client, family, and caregiver training regarding fall prevention techniques; upper and lower body therapeutic exercises performed twice a week.
Client now at significantly decreased risk for falls; improved overall strength and flexibility thereby slowing down and halting client's gradual decline.
Client D – Dementia – Severe dementia and loss of overall function including decreased ability to stand and ambulate; developing severe loss of range of motion due to joint contractures.
Intense lower body stretching; lower extremity strengthening regimen; standing balance regimen.
Client able to ambulate short distances and stand on a regular basis; lower body range of motion significantly improved and risk for contractures now limited greatly.
Client E – Total joint replacement – Severe difficulty standing and walking following total hip replacement placing client at significant risk for falls.
Intense lower body strengthening regimen implemented.
Client able to ambulate without the use of an assistive device and demonstrates improved overall safety awareness to minimize risk for falls.
